Systemic Lytic State (Last Updated - 3/30/2005)

-can be caused by too much:
     A) plasminogen or
     B) plasmin or
     C) t-PA --> induces plasminogen activation to plasmin at ~100x the normal rate

-the alpha-2-anti-plasmin regulatory mechanism at max levels can only inhibit ~50% of max plasmin levels
-so high levels of either of the above will overwhelm the regulatory mechanism of alpha-2-anti-plasmin

-char. by uncontrolled clot lysis
